A foundation weep screed is a metal strip installed at the base of stucco or exterior plaster walls, just above the concrete foundation or slab. It serves two main purposes:
1. Water Drainage: It creates a gap or pathway for any moisture that has penetrated the exterior wall system to exit or weep out, preventing water from being trapped behind the wall finish.
2. Terminating Point for Stucco: Acts as the bottom edge or termination profile where the stucco or exterior finish ends, ensuring a clean edge and proper sheet protection from moisture moving into the foundation.
